We are delighted to announce the relaunch of our digital sports toolkit – the Power of Sport. Originally launched in 2021, the Power of Sport toolkit is a FREE, Sport England funded digital learning resource designed in collaboration with StreetGames. The toolkit has been developed as part of our Power of Sport project to help those designing, delivering and evaluating sports programmes to create inclusive, impactful programmes that bring people together, bridge divides, and foster a sense of belonging.

Taking on board user feedback on the original version of the toolkit, the new, improved Power of Sport toolkit has been updated to be more interactive and easier to use – with a completion time of only 60 minutes.

Who is the toolkit for?

Whether you’re working in diverse neighbourhoods or with marginalised groups, this step-by-step guide can help you to harness the power of sport to design inclusive, impactful programmes that promote social cohesion.

Who was involved in the creation of the toolkit?

The new iteration of the Power of Sport toolkit was created by Belong in collaboration with StreetGames, and with funding from Sport England. The original toolkit, launched in 2021 was funded by Sport England and Spirit of 2012.

The content has been produced with input and guidance from: StreetGames, Youth Sport Trust, Sporting Equals, Spirit of 2012, Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and Manchester City Council.

Mark Lawrie, CEO of StreetGames said:

Time is extremely precious for the locally trusted community organisations we support to bring sport and physical activity into their communities so an accessible, easy to navigate and practical resource like this is just what they need to help them increase their local impact on social cohesion.

What does the toolkit contain?

The toolkit includes case study videos, links to useful external resources and interactive exercises, and guides you through creating your own Theory of Change tailored to the needs of your organisation/sports programme.

How do I get started using the toolkit?

It’s really easy to get started – just register for an account on the toolkit microsite and you are ready to go!

Interested in tailored training for your organisation?

Belong can also offer personalised training and workshops, supporting you through the toolkit, and offering more in-depth guidance suited to your individual needs.
