Belong are enormously proud that our Chair, Shalni Arora and former Chief Executive, Jo Broadwood have been awarded OBEs in the King’s 2024 Birthday Honours List.

As a Founding Trustee at Belong, Shalni has been awarded an OBE for services to philanthropy and charity. In addition to her contribution to Belong, she is the CEO of Savannah Wisdom, a charitable foundation. Shalni is also on the Board of the British Asia Trust, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital Foundation Trust and is a member of the Network for Social Change. She has previously been awarded a Medal of Honour by Manchester University for services to the City of Manchester in recognition of her support to the City, in particular the Hardship Fund she set up during the pandemic.

Jo Broadwood, who is currently CEO of Leap Confronting Conflict, led Belong as Chief Executive until earlier this year, with an OBE being awarded for services to social cohesion. Jo is widely-recognised as an expert in cohesion and conflict resolution, and was previously CEO of StreetDoctors before joining Belong in 2019.

Belong congratulates Shalni and Jo on their achievement and well deserved recognition,
