Belong Network was delighted to support founder members Brabners at their 2023 equality, diversity, and inclusion conference in Manchester, looking at allyship and building common ground.
Brabners, an independent and purpose-led law firm with offices across the northwest, offers all staff the chance to feed into five ‘TAG’ groups developing company policy on LGBTQIA+ issues, mental health and wellbeing, gender equality, social mobility, and physical wellbeing. Belong Network associates Mike Waite and Christine Cox met representatives from each TAG action group to offer advice, training, and resources on finding common ground and negotiating difficult conversations in a way that can build empathy and understanding. Part of the workshop looked at the concept of being an ally and the barriers to allyship such as lack of lived experience or choosing correct language or terminology – and how these could be removed to provide authentic support and empowerment.
As a certified B Corp, we’re committed to responsible business. This means consciously improving our approach to social mobility and diversity while making the difference in our local communities. That’s why we joined Belong as a founding member in 2020. Its focus on community cohesion aligns perfectly with our own values.

Belong has provided insightful and engaging training sessions for our people on ‘intersectionality’ and ‘holding difficult conversations’. Both received outstanding feedback from attendees, who were impressed with the quality of the sessions, the interesting discussions that were had and the knowledge displayed by those conducting the training.
