Facing History and Ourselves
A registered charity, Facing History UK was first established in 2004 and since 2019 has been working to expand their reach and impact across schools in the United Kingdom. The organisation uses historical and literary analysis and insight into human behaviour to help young people build their understanding of racism, prejudice and intolerance and translate lessons from history into their own lives.
StreetGames
National data has consistently shown that young people from lower socio-economic groups are less likely to volunteer than their more affluent peers. To help address this, StreetGames has developed an offer aimed at supporting locally trusted organisations (LTOs) and young people in areas of high deprivation to take on volunteering and leadership roles.
The Linking Network
The Linking Network is a community of locally led linking programmes operating across England, supporting schools and their communities to develop a positive and cohesive ethos. They do this by exploring identity, celebrating diversity, promoting community and championing equality. There are currently 29 linking programmes in the Network reaching over 27,000 children.
Waltham Forest Council
Waltham Forest’s Connecting Communities programme recently launched its Young Feel Good Ambassador programme; rolled out to 150 young people from 11 different schools across the borough.
Walsall Council: Walsall for All
In September 2019, Manor Farm Community Association and Nash Dom CIC organised a Community Sports Festival in Walsall, West Midlands on the theme of ‘Active Living, Healthy Eating’. Funded by a Walsall for All’s Innovation Grant, the event aimed to improve the sports activities on offer in the area and to unite people without prejudice and discrimination.
Odd Arts
‘Blame and Belonging’ – a project from Odd Arts – is an interactive theatre performance and workshop designed to encourage meaningful debate around issues of hate, identity, and vulnerability.
The Great Get Together
The Great Get Together is inspired by Jo Cox, who was killed on 16 June 2016. We believe there is a groundswell of people who reject divisive politics and simply want to bring our communities together and celebrate all that unites us.
Who is Your Neighbour
Who is Your Neighbour? is a charity that holds conversations in South Yorkshire communities where people might be experiencing or managing the consequences of change and / or feel they have not been listened to. Participants are invited to speak openly and listen to others. Difficult topics like race, immigration and culture are welcomed.
